Book Review No.2! A Trip To the Park...

Hello there intrepid readers!

Well, I've made good on my promise, for once, and bring you an on time blog post!

....Er... Why aren't you moving? .... Oh bugger, they've died with shock. WELL, I'm hoping your corpse can read, 'cause We've got a cracker of a post today! ( if I do say so myself).

The book I'm reviewing today is Micheal Crichton's Jurrasic Park, and this is Book Review No. 2/101!

Now, I personally find the ideas behind Jurrasic Park quite interesting. I mean, dinsoaurs back from the dead? Adventure, Thriller, and Drama? Man-eating Velociraptors? What's not to love?
And while my editor strongly disagrees ( I can feel her eyes glaring at me, and im 4 miles away) I think that the films are good. I have always liked them, and have seen all of them , 1, 2, and 3, several times.

And thus, I decided to read the book that started it all.

It was quite a shock to me that the book and the film differs in several areas. For the sake of spoilers, I will divulge a few, but not all. If any of my many 5 readers are planning to read the book, you might to skip the next couple of paragraphs. But, like me, you probably saw the film first, and in that case, know what to expect, and in that case, keep reading... Please?

The book differs firstly on its beginning. While the intitial few pages matches up with the film, the next scene in the book, of a little girl being attacked by a compy, was loosely reflected in the second film of the series. This meant that all of the jurassic park films can be said to draw from the book, which wasn't something i had expected, due to the fact that Michael Crichton had input with the films, meaning that the decision to skip bits and add them into the second film was probably run by him and accepted.

Another MAJOR SPOILER is that... well everyone dies. Not everyone, but a lot more people than in the film. This then of course changes the plot of the book greatly, with characters dying instead of having pivotal roles in the film. Again, I didn't expect Crichton to have such a penchant for death, but I feel that the darker plot lines of the book made sense, what with the Genetically Engineered Killing Machines dinosaurs being loose and all.

A third Spoiler of sorts is the difference in the representation of characters between the book and the film. A Good example of this is the grand daughter of John Hammond " Lex ". In the film, she is a helpful little computer expert, and in some cases, calmer than the adults.

In the book? A whiny, annoying, and obnoxious little girl, who does everything wrong. EVERYTHING. I actually hit myself in the face with rage from some of the things this girl did. This difference can be seen in other characters, but that would ruin the book, so I shan't tell you. So there... Go read it.

And now, my summing up of the book.

While there is large differences between the film and the book for Jurrasic Park, I would wholly reccomend it. Though I struggled to empathiz ewith some of the characters, I just love the overall plot line of the book not to tell you, my many 5 readers, to go and try it for yourself. Sure you may like the film better, or not enjoy the book as much, but I can promise you this.

You will know where it all began.

And with that thrilling climax of a tldr review, im going to leave you with not one, but two songs!

One is the original theme tune for Jurassic Park, which hopefully many of you will know and love.
One is...Well... Different. But very funny.

Watch both and leave me a comment if you like them, this post, my blog, my face, llamas, or basically anything. I'm post hungry.

 Thats All Folks!
